Summary
HubSpot is the CRM platform for scaling companies and a leading proponent of the move to hybrid working, supporting a global workforce working remotely and from an office.
HubSpot’s carbon emissions from remote working are more than four times that of their office emissions, and in 2022 were approximately 11% of their total carbon footprint.
This means that their employees are a critical part of their footprint and Scope 3 reporting, and employee impact reduction needs to be a core part of their sustainability strategy.
Using a custom version of Sustainabl’s TeamFootprint carbon calculator, HubSpot ran a snap workforce engagement campaign to help employees understand and address their carbon footprint.
Fully integrated with their comms strategy, their campaign included participation across roles and geographies as well as multichannel promotion across slack, email, newsletters, wiki, and in-office.
Within the first week of launching the campaign, over 700 staff participated across 13 countries, receiving personal emissions reduction guidance, and creating an aggregate, anonymised data set that HubSpot can use to inform their Scope 3 reporting and define future campaigns for staff across energy and travel – campaigns that are already underway.
The campaign featured in HubSpot’s 2023 Annual Sustainability report.
Working with Sustainabl was a great creative opportunity to engage HubSpotters as part of our decarbonisation journey.
The TeamFootprint carbon calculator really captured our employees imagination & interest and has helped frame future campaigns.
